Furniture designer Yoo, Jung Min graduated with an Industrial Design degree at Hongik University in Seoul. As he preferred using wood as a material, he turned towards furniture design from industrial product design. When his peers entered companies as product designers, he instead he learned carpentry at a small workshop and a wood studio. In 2009, he launched a furniture studio, Millord, to showcase well-made modern and simple furniture.
Millord’s work process begins by carefully selecting the finest materials available. With careful consideration, Yoo seeks for the most beautiful balance in a simple design while acutely working to bring most of the material’s characteristics. Millord’s furniture embodies its values in creating excellence in both the functions and the aesthetic harmonies of the furniture.
Yoo, Jung Min pursues minimal design that intuitively expresses its function by its form. His furniture embodies warmth from the wood material itself while revealing its refined design of simple lines and sophisticated details.
All the process is completed inside his studio. He aspires to create furniture from design to woodwork himself as he believes that designers should consider the process in order to improve skills for a better realization of the idea. In this sense, he repeats the process of design, woodworking, and using his works to create for finest furnitures. Millord is able to restyle its standard furniture to fit each customer’s personal needs.
